This 40-hour, self-paced online course is the first course in the Instrumentation and Controls Technician Skill Path. Develop your skills with formal learning and hands-on virtual simulations. The skill path gives a strong foundation in technical skills, industrial communication networks, and leadership and communication and aligns with the coursework for multiple SACA micro-credentials.

This course focuses on instrumentation systems, such as electrical and pneumatic systems, and includes leadership and communication skills.

1. Demonstrate an understanding of safety and be ready to apply safe practices to the workplace. 2. Explain electric circuits, electric motor control, and variable frequency drive systems, including function, operation, and troubleshooting. 3. Explain the role of pneumatics and describe fluid systems, key components, and approaches to troubleshooting. 4. Describe the set-up, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ethernet systems. 5. Describe techniques for effective leadership and communication in an advanced manufacturing environment.
